the lyrics may not make sense initially but u need to read between the lines. it's about this boy who initially got in a relationship with this girl over lust, broke up, then realised he had actually loved her. tried to get her back though she had already changed into a typical american (before that she was unique) and other guys were all over her.so it's either he had found her, or lost her. the song's just about true love.
